Day 86: Coal Chute
Today was opening day for my son's baseball team. It was a long day but at one point, I had the opportunity to take a walk into Carytown. Carytown is a section of Richmond that is pretty arty and it attracts a pretty diverse crowd. Now on my way to Carytown, I came across this coal chute on the side of one of the buildings. I still find it fascinating that urban residents had to have regular deliveries of this sooty material in order to heat their homes.
